CROCHET AND KNIT GROUP
CURRENT NUMBER OF ITEMS DONATED TO CHARITY IS 1,795!
In January, 2000, the crochet and knit group was organized at Creighton University by Joleen Richwine of the Political Science and International Relations Department. The group meets several times a year to share lunch, talk and work on our latest projects.
There are no dues, and the group is open to any member of the Creighton University community as well as members in the Omaha metro area. Faculty, staff members and students, male and female are all a part of the group. Members are encouraged to work on projects at home during their free time or during their lunch hour at work.
Members share patterns, teach new learners the art of crochet or knit, learn new techniques and stitches, and plan future events. The group hosted a "Crochet and Knit Show" in the fall of 2000, and a booth at the Creighton University Health Fair in the fall of 2003.
The group decided to share their talents by giving back to the community by doing service projects at the groups inception. Click here to see a list of all the volunteer opportunities and agencies we have supplied handmade knitted and crochet items to.
As of December 15, 2006, 1,795 items have been donated to charities, organizations and agencies throughout the metro area!

Locally, all completed items for charity are returned to Joleen (Political Science Office, Admin. Bldg., Room 430a). The group is keeping track the number and what agencies all the items are donated to. Several members of the group have volunteered to help deliver the donated items to the different charities that we support.
If you wish to contribute to our cause, but live out of the Omaha metro area, you may send your donations to: Joleen Richwine, Creighton University, Political Science Department, 2500 California Plaza, Admin. Bldg. Room 430, Omaha, NE 68178. Or better yet, start a group similar to ours in your own community. Here is how.
Yarn has been donated to the group by individuals and organizations for our charity work. Please contact Joleen to see the donated yarn and take some home to use in our charity work. The donation of the FREE yarn and knitting needles and crochet hooks makes this an affordable way to help others in our charity work. If you have yarn, supplies or patterns you would like to donate to the group, please contact Joleen at 280-2836 or at her e-mail. .
The group welcomes new members and encourages YOU to join us in our work. Together we can make a difference in our community!
Please e-mail Joleen if you are interested in joining the list serve and the group.
