Welcome to Creighton Speech and Debate
Forensics and debate is a cocurricular activity that teaches communication and public speaking skills through the performance of individual events (platform, interpretive, and limited preparation speaking events) and debate (Parliamentary and Lincoln-Douglas).
The goal of the Creighton University Forensics and Debate team is to draw broadly from across the disciplines represented at the University so that students will have an integrated, interdisciplinary educational experience whereby they can develop the ability to research, generate, construct, and deliver ethical messages with a sense of responsibility for the effects of those messages in order to develop men and women with a sense of personal integrity and an obligation to serve others.
During the past three years, Creighton has developed one of the most diverse and competitive forensics programs in the region. Our debate team is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in Lincoln-Douglas debate and won back-to-back sweepstakes championships in 2002 and 2003 at the National Forensics Association tournament. We also are proud to be home to the national champion in Lincoln Douglas Debate, Mike Storey. Our individual events team is currently ranked 13th in the nation of the National Forensics Association. But at Creighton, success is not measured by the number of trophies you bring home; it is measured by what you have learned. We believe that hard work and a positive attitude can make forensics one of the most rewarding experiences of your college career!
