End of Year Celebration:
- 4.25.2005 -
We celebrated the end of the academic year (and of the Mock Trial season) on Monday in our "beloved" classroom, BA 315.
Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to outgoing seniors Justin Johns and Katie Albert (both of CoBA)--We'll miss you both :-(!
We also played Maria's long-promised Mock Trial game. Of course, Professor McNary knew all the answers.

(596) won Outstanding Attorney Awards. Team 596 also placed 7th at the tournament. Congratulations to
the award winners and everyone on both teams!
More Individual Award Winners!
- 11.31.2004 -
Dave Steier, portraying Dr. Gerkin, and Samantha Peterson, portraying Dr. Dehnert, both won
Outstanding Witness Awards at the First Annual Kangaroo Court Challenge.
Congratulations! Team 596 also earned an Honorable Mention Award. The tournament
took place November 30-31 in Kansas City on the campus of the University of Missouri
Kansas City. In other news, team 596, with Katie Albert at the wheel, got
lost on the outskirts of Kansas City. After passing the airport twice, the
team finally bought a map. Unfortunately, they arrived several minutes late to the first round.
On the return journey, a certain event occurred. Once again, Samantha saved the day!

an Outstanding Witness Award for his portrayal of Tony Kissner. Team 596

Mock Trial Info Night Held
- 9.14.2004 -
As part of annual recruitment, the CU Mock Trial Team held its info night for
new members. At the meeting, we ran through a brief PowerPoint presentation
that gave information about mock trial, including what it is, how it works,
why it's beneficial, and who is on the team. Our moderator, George McNary, JD,
also discussed the MT class at Creighton. We also announced our practice
times for the coming year: We will be meeting Sundays from 11-1. At the
first practice, we will hand-out this year's case, which is the civil case of
Kissner v Polk County Hospital.
We Have the New Case!
- 8.30.2004 -
The CU MT team has received this year's case. The case is provided by the
American Mock Trial Association (AMTA), which oversees intercollegiate MT
competition. This year, AMTA has provided a civil case: Kissner v Polk County Hospital.
Tony Kissner was an up-and-coming golfer who alleges that his career was ruined as
a result of the negligence of Polk County Hospital, the Psychiatric hospital
charged with caring for Martin Dutcher, the man who assaulted Kissner.
First-Ever Mock Trial Class Meets
- 8.30.2004 -
This is the first semester that Creighton University has offered a MT class.
Offered through the College of Business, the class is taught by MT Team moderator
George McNary, JD. The class meets once a week on Mondays from 4-6. In the
first class, the new case was distributed and the coming year was discussed. If you
are interested in enrolling in the class, please e-mail
Mr. McNary.
