Know What Happened!
The First Meeting:
THIS EMAIL IS A LONG ONE, BUT PLEASE READ IT ALL, EVERYTHING IS REALLY IMPORTANT.
I hope everyone had an unbelievable summer and is ready to kick off a new school year with the first SEAN email! I knew you would be excited!! This is starting out to be a funfilled year with a lot ofstuff for to be teachers to do!
Megan and Dr. Ponec have created an agenda for year which is attached to this email for handy purposes; our meeting times will be on Tuesdays at 7:46 p.m. in HC8; be there or be square! We have had to problems trying to get people to come to the meetings in the past so we are thinking about doing door prizes, perfect attendance prizes, or the such as an incentive to coming to a FUNTABULOUS meetings!!!Even though I just said that our meetings will be HC8, we are actually going to be in THE GALLAGHER ROOM AT 7:46 P.M. ON SEPTEMBER 16 FOR OUR FIRST MEETING. The SEAN Annual Auction will be on November 17th and we don't want just one person folding the letters to local business so we figured we would help out, get things done in a jiffy and have a letter folding party along with our VERY FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR!
We will need to lovely volunteers to help out at the auction this year. Again, it's on Thursday, November 17th from 11:30-3:30 but we will also need some people to help set up starting around 10:30 and volunteers to help move the prizes back to the Education Department for delivery around 3:30. PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK IF YOU CAN HELP OUT AT ALL so that we can develop a schedule to make sure all times are covered.
Flipping the calendar back to September 7, you will notice that we have the involvement fair! YAY! The fair is going from 12:00-3:30 and we will also need to some kind volunteers to help out on that day also for during the fair and for setup around 10:30. PLEASE EMAIL BE BACK IF YOU CAN HELP OUT WITH THE FAIR.
We hope that through the Involvement Fair we will recruit some lovely freshman, or students of any grade to come and join us in the exciting world of SEAN. But, to help this process out more the executives of SEAN will be going on the same week of the Fair to the classes of 103, 207, and 210 to let students hear some information about SEAN and KDP.
So, did you hear we have a website? Well, I'll tell you what, it's pretty amazing! Julie has been working hard to create a wonderful website for our organization and would love your input. She hasn't finished it completely but needs your help to place the finishing touches. PLEASE EMAIL JULIE AT JULIEDERBY@CREIGHTON.EDU AND TELL HER WHAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE ON OUR WONDERFUL WEBSITE. On this website we will show our minutes, along with over email, like conveniently right now, and we will also have all the minutes at the meetings as a hard copy, so you are sure not to miss a thing!
Another problem we have encountered over the years with the SEAN meeting that we are determined to change is what we talk about at these meetings. Megan has graciously planned to make an agenda the week before a meeting, send it over email, and everyone in the organization can email her to let her know of anything that we want to talk about in addition. Whatever is on the agenda we will talk about, whatever isn't must be saved until another meeting. We don't want to be in meeting for the entire night so we thought this would be the efficient way to get things done in an organized manner. PLEASE EMAIL MEGAN BY THE FRIDAY AFTER SHE EMAILED THE AGENDA TO ADD ANY ADDITIONS.
We have four committees within SEAN this year and we would love for everyone to pick a committee that they would like to be involved with.
Fundraising- This committee is led by Denise whose main projects are T-Shirts/Tote Bags for the school year and the amazing Auction.
Events- The leader of this committee is Liz and she will be working to make the Spring Tea a success and make one family have a wonderful Christmas.
Service- This committee is led by be and I will be working on Service project through out the school year along with locating a classroom to adopt.
Programs- Julie will lead this committee and she will be working on bringing speakers to talk to us and making sure Thank You notes are sent out afterwards.
PLEASE EMAIL WITH THE COMMITTEE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED WITH.
Okay, looks like we finally have all the information for the beginning of the school year. PLEASE DROP AN EMAIL TO ME ABOUT IF AND WHEN YOU CAN HELP WITH THE INVOLVEMENT FAIR, THE AUCTION, AND WHAT COMMITTEE YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED WITH. EMAIL JULIE WITH ANY IDEAS FOR THE WEBSITE AND MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IT OUT.
